چکیده
Purpose : This study aimed to compare peripheral pulse oxygen saturation (SpO2) values, measured at different monitoring sites, and arterial (SaO2) of neurocritical patients. Methods The included 110 patients admitted the neurosurgical intensive care unit a university hospital. patients’ SpO2 values were in their index fingers, both second toes, earlobes, foreheads, using patient system. These compared with standard value SaO2 blood gas analyzer. Data analyzed descriptive Pearson’s correlation coefficients, Lin’s concordance coefficients (CCC), Bland-Altman plots.Result Regardless measuring site, was correlated paired measurements (r=.40~.60, <i>p</i><.001, CCC range=.40~.58). No significant bias observed all sites (-0.06~0.19%, <i>p</i>>.05). left finger right earlobe had narrowest range, 95% limits agreement (LOA) (left -3.04~2.93% -3.18~2.79%). finger, on side without an catheter, narrower range LOA than that opposing (-3.00~2.97% vs. -3.73~3.26%).Conclusion catheter highest level precision. suggests for oximetry patients.

Discrepancies between arterial oxygen saturation and functional oxygen saturation measured with pulse oximetry in very preterm infants.
BACKGROUND Discrepancies between pulse oximetry saturation (SpO(2)) and arterial saturation (SaO(2)) at low blood oxygenation values have been previously reported with significant variations among instruments and studies. Whether pulse oximeters that attenuate motion artifact are less prone to such discrepancies is not well known. OBJECTIVE To prospectively assess the agreement of the Masimo ...
متن کاملevaluation of oxygen saturation by pulse-oximetry in mouth breathing patients
mouth breathing might not always result in hypoxia, but can contribute to it. the aim of the present study was to determine the effect of mouth breathing on hypoxia. based on a pilot study, 323 patients with mouth breathing were selected. assessment of mouth breathing was based on clinical examination and questionnaires filled out by patients and their companions. the patients were also examine...
متن کاملPulse Oximetry Overestimates Oxygen Saturation in COPD.
BACKGROUND Measurement of oxygen saturation with a handheld pulse oximeter is widely practiced as a surrogate to invasive arterial blood gas analysis. Oxygen saturation is an important parameter in cases of COPD, but there are insufficient data on the role of pulse oximetry in patients with COPD, moreso in diseases across its spectrum, such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema. We assessed the p...
متن کاملCorrelation between Pulse Oximetry Oxygen Saturation (SpO2) and Measured Arterial Oxygen Saturation (SaO 2 ) and Arterial Oxygen Tension (PaOz) in Neonates
=Abstract=Pulse oximetry has recently been introduced as a method for continuous and non-invasive transcutaneous monitoring of arterial oxygen saturation in neonates. The purpose of our study was to determine the reliability, accuracy, and practicability of pulse oximetry for monitoring arterial oxygenation in sick newborn infants. Pulse oximetry oxygen saturation values (SpO2) were compared wi...
متن کاملComparison of oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry and co-oximetry during exercise testing in patients with COPD.
INTRODUCTION Measurement of oxygen saturation by pulse oximetry (SpO2) is frequently performed during exercise testing of patients with COPD to monitor for hypoxemia. The purpose of this study was to assess the accuracy and precision of pulse oximetry during exercise. We hypothesized that the SpO2 would more closely reflect oxygen saturation as measured by co-oximetry (SaO2) when it was correct...
